Abscond
Verb
To leave hurriedly to avoid arrest.
Example: He tried to abscond the country, but it was too late. He was arrested on the plane before it took off.

Verb
To firmly warn against someone’s behavior.
Example: He admonished him for taking drugs when he promised not to do so.

Apprehend
Verb
To arrest an individual for a crime.
Example: He was apprehended for murder later that day and would appear on trial next week.

Arraign
Verb
To bring to court on a criminal charge.
Example: She was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Noun
Deliberately setting fire to property.
Example: Sheldon committed arson when he set fire to his grandma's house, she died.

Assailant
Noun
A person who assaults or attacks.
Example: The victims was attacked by three assailants.

Verb
To threateningly wave a dangerous object, such as a knife.
Example: When approached, he brandished his knife and threatened all those who were in his immediate vicinity.

Burglar
Noun
A person who breaks into a home or business and steals items.
Example: Yesterday a burglar got into Sydney's house.

Noun
A bruise.
Example: Johnny suffered 3 contusions while playing soccer at Bill's house.

Culprit
Noun
A person responsible for a crime or misdeed.
Example: The culprit was 6 feet tall, 300 pounds and was found by the police hiding in the forest behind the school.

Exonerate
Verb
To find innocent or free from wrongdoing.
Example: The court exonerated his reputation and found him not guilty of the 5 crimes originally attributed to him this winter.

Noun
An inquiry that takes place to establish the facts.
Example: The court ordered an inquest to be held to learn what happened missing government funds.

Jurisdiction
Noun
The autority of an official organisation or a court to make decisions or judgments.
Example: This court has no jurisdiction in cases of this kind.

Larceny
Noun
Theft of personal property.
Example: Paul committed larceny, stealing over $1,000 from his autistic brother.

Misdemeanor
Noun
A minor crime (punishment is usually a fine or less than one year in jail)
Example: Johnny did vandalism and that is a misdemeanor.

A temporary ban.
Example: Canada declared a moratorium on nuclear energy.

Telling a lie whilst under oath.
Example: He committed perjury by lying on what he did on October 2nd of 2001.

To deliberately destroy or obstruct an event.
Example: The kids of John and Emily sabotaged my son's birthday.

Siege
Noun
A military operation in which a town or city is surrounded, and essential supplies are cut off, with the intention that the town / city will surrender.
Example: There was siege on the White House.

Verb
To make a false spoken statement about an individual’s reputation.
Example: He slandered Bill Clinton’s character in public by claiming that he was a pedophile.

Suborn
Verb
To bribe someone to commit an unlawful act.
Example: He tried to suborn witnesses to speak in his favor.

Subpoena
Noun
A writ ordering an individual to appear in court.
Example: Bill Clinton was issued a subpoena to appear in court to answer questions on the hundreds of kids found in his basement.

Noun
The state of being homeless.
Example: The vagrant moved from street to street each week, never having a permanent place to call home.
